I love to tell stories. When I draw and create my goal is to give the viewer a clear feeling and emotion. I prefer focusing on one or two subjects in a piece, that could mean one or two colors, people, or emotions. I don’t like my work to feel muddy, I believe a lot of that comes from my education in graphic design. When I create a scene I want the viewer to understand it and expand from it. I don’t want the viewer to be confused at what they’re looking at.
A lot of my work can contain only one character with no background or story. What I like about these pieces is that it gives the viewer an opportunity to use their imagination and borrow from me to tell their own story.
I enjoy using a multitude of media and at times I like to mix them up a bit. Usually, I start with sketching and then inking. Many times that will be the end of the design, or rather, doodle. I enjoy using digital media to enhance hand drawn pieces, and creating completely digital pieces. Every now and when I need to challenge myself or give myself a break from my signature media I like to move into acrylics and watercolor paints. Sometimes even finger painting.
